Thanjavur medical College (TMC) is an eminent medical College located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The College was established in the year 1958 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The College is spread over a huge Campus of 228 acres and is under the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR medical University, Chennai. It is under the control of Directorate of medical Education and is recognised by the medical Council of India. The medical College started with undergraduate course of M.B.B.S with the intake capacity of 100 Students which has increased to 150 Students. The College presently also conducts various other Postgraduate- Diploma, Degree and Super-speciality courses in various branches of Medicine and surgery. Apart from this there are also paramedical courses which include Diploma in Nursing, Pharmacy and medical Laboratory Technician and Paramedical Certificate Courses in Theatre Technicians, Anaesthesia Technicians, ECG Technicians etc.
The College has two major Hospitals attached to it which are The Thanjavur medical College Hospital (TMCH) and Government Raja Mirasudar Hospital. TMCH is an in Campus Hospital started in the year 1964. It is a 678 bedded Hospital which offers advanced medical Services in various specialities and super specialities.
RMH is a 640 bedded Hospital which started in the year 1877. The Hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient medical facilities in various branches of Medicine.
