The Ministry of Finance Kuwait is located at Ministry Complex, City of Kuwait. The Ministry of Finance in Kuwait was developed on 2/7/1938. The organization development was started with the Council Supervision on the regulation of the public budget and public expenditure. The Ministry of Finance of Kuwait handles all Financial and economic matters in general. In 1962 a Law 1/1962 was passed for the governance byLaws for the transitional period. According to this Law the ministry of the Government organization was chaired by the prime minister. It was happened for the first time in the State of Kuwait. In 1962 a second Law was passed (Law 2/1962) by Amiri Decree. According to this Law they re-organize the ministries. They re-organized ministry of finance and Economy. According to this second Law all Financial and economic powers and works will handle by the Ministry of Housing except for the allocation of low-Income houses. On 28/1/1963 Amiri Decree issued a name to the organization which was “Ministry of Finance and Industry” and they attach it to the Ministry of Customer and Ports. In 1965 the name of the organization changed from Ministry of Finance and Industry to the Ministry of Finance and Oil. After that in 1975 they seprate the both departments and name of the organization was changed to Ministry of Finance and ministry of Oil was established separately. On dated 26/5/1975 Amiri Decree deCIDed to attached the following departments to the Ministry of Finance:
1. Public budget department
2. Investment department
3. Retirement department
4. State Domain and Services department
5. Public Accounting department
6. General Department of Shuaiba Industrial Area
In 1982 independent public authority was established and attached to the Ministry of Finance. This authority was called Public Investment Authority. On dated 17/03/1985 the name Ministry of Finance was change to the name “Ministry of Finance and Economy”.
