Born in Ankara in 1960, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zirh completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine as a Doctor of Medicine in 1983. Since 1988, he has participated in post-graduate and clinical studies in the field of neurosurgery in different parts of the world, becoming a neurosurgery specialist in 1994 and completing his master's degree at Marmara University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zirh returned from the United States in 1997 and started to work at the VKV American Hospital, performing functional neurosurgery operations and DBS implantations with the microelectrode recording and stimulation technique at the single cell level which located in only a few centers in the world. One of his biggest achievements was being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2018 for the largest number of deep brain stimulation procedures performed globally.
