Harish Rao is a member of TRS who won the assembly elections six consecutive times in Siddipet. He contested and won the first assembly elections at the age of 32 and since then he's cemented his position in the constituency as a formidalbe and undefeated politician of Telangana. He was inducted into Cabinet in 2014 as a Minister of Irrigation. With his win at the 2018 assembly election, Rao became the youngest MLA to be elected in legislative for the sixth consecutive time of legislative assembly in India. He won the by-polls from Siddipet by a margin of 24,829 votes and again in 2008 for a second term. He won his first assembly election from Siddipet constituency in Telangana where he defeated Anjaiah Byri of INC by a margin of 64,677 votes. He retained the position in 2010 by-polls. He was re-elected for a second term from Siddipet this time thwarting Taduri Srinivas Goud bid to the seat. He served as Minister for Irrigation, Marketing & Legislative Affairs of Telangana.
